The Truth Behind RFinder: A Message to Our Community
Bob Greenberg, W2CYK, is the founder, CEO, chief architect, and sole owner of RFinder. I’ve known Bob for many years—since the earliest days when RFinder was just an idea taking shape.
In 2023, RFinder experienced tremendous growth and brought on a new shareholder to support its expansion. However, differing visions for the future of the company quickly led to a split. During this period, the owner of Unified unjustly locked Bob and his development team out of the system. Following the separation, that former shareholder began claiming ownership of RFinder’s software and launched a negative campaign against the company. We presume this is because he now owns a piece of ComJot. They are using “FUD,” fear, uncertanty and doubt, the oldest trick in the book to attenuate RFinder’s growth.
What many don’t see on social media is the real story: Bob’s dedicated team in Mexico, to ensure continuity and avoid legal disputes, completely rebuilt the platform using the original software foundation developed before the shareholder’s involvement. This wasn’t just a restoration—it was a major upgrade. RFinder has been reengineered from the ground up, now running on Android 13 with significant improvements in stability, performance, and reliability, while maintaining users investment in their older devices on Android 8 and 9.
Exciting new features are on the horizon. In the coming weeks, RFinder will support an expanded range of digital voice protocols over IP—all integrated into the second PTT button. These include M17, YSF, FCS, DMR (for non-BrandMeister networks), P25, NXDN, REF, XRF, DCS, and IAX.
Despite the ongoing misinformation, RFinder is thriving. Development continues actively, our support team is fully operational, and a highly skilled, passionate global team stands behind the latest—and greatest—version of RFinder.
The noise is temporary. The innovation is real. RFinder is better than ever.
